Your Privacy Matters
HomeClaw is designed with your privacy as the top priority. Your smart home data stays on your Mac.
What We Collect
Nothing. We don’t collect, store, or transmit any of your HomeKit data or personal information.
How the App Works
- Local Processing: All HomeKit communication happens directly on your Mac via Apple’s HomeKit framework
- No Servers: Your home data never leaves your device. HomeClaw communicates over a local Unix domain socket only
- No Tracking: We don’t track your usage or collect analytics
- No Accounts: No sign-up required, no email addresses collected
- No Network Access: HomeClaw does not make any network requests. All communication is local
HomeKit Access
When you grant HomeClaw access to your HomeKit data:
- The app reads your home layout, rooms, accessories, and scenes locally
- Commands to control accessories are sent directly to HomeKit on your Mac
- We cannot and do not upload your home data anywhere
- Your HomeKit access can be revoked at any time in System Settings > Privacy & Security > HomeKit
Third-Party Integrations
HomeClaw provides a CLI tool and MCP server that allow AI assistants (like Claude) to interact with your HomeKit accessories. These integrations:
- Communicate only over a local Unix domain socket on your Mac
- Do not send your home data to any external service
- Are entirely optional and can be disabled
