Summary

On This Day is designed to work entirely on your device. We do not collect, store, or sell personal data. We do not use any third‑party analytics, advertising SDKs, or tracking services, and we do not track you across apps or websites.

Data We Access (with your permission)

  • Photos: Read your photo library to show photos taken on this calendar day across past years. If you choose to save favorites or delete photos, those actions occur in your local Photos library.
  • Notifications (optional): If enabled, we schedule a daily local reminder on your device. No notification data leaves your device.

What We Store

  • On device: Lightweight app metadata (e.g., save decisions, queued deletions, streak statistics) is stored locally using Apple frameworks.
  • iCloud (optional, private): If iCloud syncing is enabled by the system for app data, certain small metadata (not your photos) may sync through your private iCloud container via Apple’s CloudKit. This data is tied to your Apple ID and is not accessible to the developer.

Analytics

  • No analytics: On This Day does not include any third‑party analytics SDK and does not send usage signals to the developer or to any analytics service.
  • No personal data: Because we collect no usage signals, nothing about how you use the app – including device identifiers, session data, or interaction events – leaves your device.
  • No sales or ads: We have no usage information to sell, share for advertising, or use to profile you.

What We Do Not Do

  • No upload of your photos or their contents to developer‑controlled servers

Your Choices & Controls

  • You can revoke Photos or Notification permissions in iOS Settings at any time.
  • You can clear locally stored app data from the in‑app Settings (Reset / Clear Pending Deletes).
  • Deleting the app removes all on‑device app data.

Data Sharing

We do not share your data with third parties.

Customer Support

If you contact us for customer support or technical assistance, we may collect limited information to help resolve your issue:

  • What we may collect: Device model, operating system version, app version, error logs, diagnostic information, and your description of the issue.
  • How we collect it: You may voluntarily provide this information via email or through system-generated diagnostic reports if you choose to share them.
  • What we don’t collect: We do not access your photos, photo metadata, or other personal content from the app. Your email address is only used to respond to your support request.
  • How we use it: Support information is used solely to troubleshoot your issue and improve the app. It is not sold, shared with third parties for advertising, or used for any other purpose.
  • Retention: Support communications are retained only as long as necessary to resolve your issue and for reasonable record-keeping purposes.

By contacting us for support, you consent to this limited data collection. This is separate from the app’s normal operation, which does not collect personal data.

Plain English

Far too many times we’ve seen apps harvest your contact database for spam, for profit, or for just doing gross stuff. On This Day collects no information about how you interact with the app. There is nothing for us to tie back to you, nothing to anonymize, and nothing to sell.

Personally‑Identifying Information

On This Day does not gather or transmit any Personally‑Identifying Information outside of your local device. It only stores preferences and lightweight app metadata within its own databases. Your photos are stored within your device’s photo library. No usage telemetry is collected.

Business Transfers

If On This Day, or substantially all of its assets, were acquired, or in the unlikely event that On This Day goes out of business or enters bankruptcy, this policy and its effects may change or be amended. Since On This Day does not collect information about you or your photos, it’s unlikely this privacy policy will materially change.

Privacy Policy Changes

Although most changes are likely to be minor, On This Day may change its Privacy Policy from time to time, in its sole discretion. Your continued use of this app after any change in this Privacy Policy will constitute your acceptance of such change.

Indemnity

You hereby indemnify us and undertake to keep us indemnified against any losses, damages, costs, liabilities and expenses (including, without limitation, legal expenses and any amounts paid by us to a third party in settlement of a claim or dispute on the advice of our legal advisers) incurred or suffered by us arising out of any breach by you of any provision of these terms of use, or arising out of any claim that you have breached any provision of these terms of use.
